Все брекет-системы оснащены дугой, которая и осуществляет коррекцию. Её фиксируют двумя способами:
1. Лигатурные ортодонтические конструкции фиксируются на зубах при помощи колечек из резины. Они могут растягиваться, из-за чего ортодонту приходится время от времени их подтягивать или заменять на новые.
2. Безлигатурные изделия крепятся на зубы при помощи специальных замочков, которые самостоятельно регулируются под силой давления брекетов. По этой причине их называют самолигирующими.

Единственный недостаток в сравнении с лингвальными брекетами – это заметность при носке. Но её легко свести к минимуму, если выбрать сапфировые или керамические вестибулярные брекеты.
